Company

We built rScan because we were the ones doing the scanning.

rScan is developed by R&R Applications LLC, founded by a group of friends in South Bend, Indiana with backgrounds in manufacturing, software development, procurement, startups and workforce development. We did not arrive at returned-goods liquidation as a market study — we ran the operation first, hit the bottleneck ourselves, and built the platform that removed it.

The Problem

Returns are a data problem before they are a logistics problem.

Ecommerce carries return rates far above brick-and-mortar retail. The goods themselves are usually fine. What makes them uneconomic to resell is that every unit arrives as an unidentified physical object, and every marketplace demands a structured, compliant, competitively priced record before it will accept one.

THE BOTTLENECK

Cataloging, not selling

A returned unit has to be identified, described, categorized, photographed, attributed, priced against live comparables and published under each channel's own policy rules. Done by hand, that is minutes per unit — which is why large retailers liquidate pallets for pennies on the dollar rather than process them, and why most resellers never get past the volume their staff can type.

The margin in secondary retail is not hidden in sourcing. It is trapped in the cataloging step.

THE APPROACH

Automate the step that does not scale

rScan collapses that work into a single automated pass: on-device identification, multimodal feature extraction, generative catalog synthesis and reinforcement-learned pricing, distributed across five marketplaces with inventory held in sync.

Because we operate this inventory ourselves, the platform is built against the real failure modes — policy rejections, mispriced comparables, double-sold units, stale quantity — rather than the idealized ones.

By the Numbers

A production platform, not a pilot.

Figures below are drawn from the live rScan platform database as of September 2026.

Products catalogued

88,775

Normalized catalog records with 98%+ structured attribute completion — a production platform, not a prototype.

Items scanned

768,175

Physical units identified through the capture pipeline, 450,769 of them in the last twelve months.

Orders fulfilled

131,587

Across eBay, Amazon, Walmart and Shopify, fulfilled through the platform.

Tenant operations

172

Independent stores running on one multi-tenant deployment.

How We Work

Honesty, integrity, family, entrepreneurship.

Those were the values before rScan was software, and they are the reason the platform is engineered the way it is.

CorrectnessFail open, never fail quietly

Our partners' inventory and marketplace standing are real. Every learned component in the platform has a deterministic path beneath it, every marketplace mutation is written to an append-only ledger, and no inference failure is allowed to silently produce a wrong listing.

AlignmentOur model requires partners to win

We built successful resale operations before we built software for them, and our business does not work unless the operations running on it work. That shapes what we automate first: the things that cost our partners money, not the things that demo well.

PlaceBuilt in the manufacturing Midwest

rScan is built in South Bend, Indiana, in a region that understands physical goods, warehouses and the work of moving product. Our support is staffed by people who have processed returns themselves.
